For That Comfort & Practicality: Hotel Jen Orchardgateway [Staycation Review)

Jen, YOU'VE BEEN A STAYCATION NEIGHBORHOOD FAVORITE FOR A REASON.

Many locals already know about hotel jen - a 4-star hotel located along Orchard road. Don't be fooled with its discreet entrance, this hotel has so many coveted features & amenities: a breezy infinity/rooftop pool with bar of course, a club lounge, a 24-hr fitness centre, a buffet outlet with a delish spread and free wi-fi in its public areas. Formerly known as Traders Hotel and popularly addressed as Jen, she welcomed us with a superior cityview room, welcome fruits and sweet treats. Our room has a separate shower and toilet aka en suite bathroom (which I mostly prefer) and a superb view of the shopping haven I call Orchard. This is surely one of the best upscale base for the downtown shoppers, cafe hoppers and whatnot.

The lovely 4-star Hotel JEN (Orchardgateway) is the first of the newest "JENRE" of fresh and fun range of hotels from the Shangri-La Group of Hotels. It welcomes its guests with a different light of stylish living and delicious dining. Did I mention that Jen is a smoke-free hotel too?!

JEN aims to provide a more comfortable atmosphere with a welcoming and friendly staff, putting a much lesser weight on the strict business type of accommodation. Our check-in was fast and seamless, there was also a lady staff anticipating our arrival downstairs and escorted us to the reception lobby. Just do note that Hotel Jen is located at the 10th floor of the Orchardgateway Shopping Mall.

I wouldn't want to cram everything in one post so here, lemme share about Jen's room, the gym and the bee-yoo-tee-pool POOL.

HOW TO GET THERE

Alight at the Somerset Mrt Station. From the control station you can take both exits, anyway it is impossible to get lost since there are visible signages around. I suggest you take the left exit after tapping out as it is the easiest and you do not have to cross the street anymore.

The hotel is sitting next to Somerset 313 and its pick-up and drop-off point is located after Orchardgateway taxi stand.

PROS OF STAYING WITH JEN:

Aside from shopping, you get a plethora of restaurants around the area plus movie theater and coffeeshops
The POOL (amazing city skyline view)
Club Lounge - spread is surprisingly good as is the down-to-earth service

Vending Machine
Ice Dispenser
Trolleys

In the middle of the night and your hunger pang strikes, there’s a vending machine so no need to hunt for a convenience store. Do note that only the higher floors have this* Trolleys were made available for support needed anytime, perfect for those shopping bags while you walk all the way to your room. The best is the ice dispenser in my opinion! If you got a hangover from too much booze, this is your best companion – any time, any day! I am one who also likes to have ice cubes on hand whenever I stay in hotels and sometimes it took ages before the service staff come knocking into my room. This is just perfect not for those cold drinks but in case a guest encounters a minor accident and ice would be readily available. Brilliant move here, Jen.

Are you like me who's fond of doing inversion? I usually lay on my back, put pillows under my bum and have my legs up resting on the wall once I enter our hotel guest room. I love keeping my blood warm and runnin'.

Need a soak up to the Orchard city skyline view? This is what we got from our 27 sq.m sized superior cityview room. Really fancy at night too! What more could we ask for at the end of a scorching hot busy day but to relax and have some sightseeing in the comfort of our own bed.

24-hr fitness centre / gym

They have a fitness centre that runs up 24/7 and it's best to do some yoga outside too while waiting for the sun to rise - or to retire for the day for that matter, your choice.

infinity / rooftop pool

Jen's main attraction, the 47-m pool with a stunning view of the Singapore skyline. Who can resist not dipping your toes to the twinkle of the city lights? You can also book a massage on their poolside cabanas.
