Whenever people are at their pivotal moments - be it sending a child to a college university, buying their own dream house, selling properties with sentimental values, or even retirement, they turn to banks for resolutions. This is where DBS Bank found its niche in proving to their customers that they aren't just banks, they can actually change someone's life for the better.

A few weeks back I was able to attend the media preview of DBS Sparks Episode 7 (Stand By ME) and I literally had no idea this type of series actually existed. DBS Bank started this mini-series that follows the lives of young bankers, stories were all from actual lives of customers with their identities kept confidential.

Episode 7 starred Adrian Pang, Nathan Hartono (young Adrian) and former beauty queen, Miss Jamie Teo. Don't forget to catch it, I've provided the links for you guys down below~!J

This is not some cheapskate or the skit type get-over-it-we-are-only-after-the-views of series. No floppy acting here, expect serious dialogues and drama - LOTS OF IT.

Watch it and you'll see the effort these people have invested in it. It has a cinematic feel to it, attempting to make you bawl like a baby then successfully tugs at your heartstrings afterwards, either you reached out for a pack of tissue inside your handbag or perhaps got that giant lump in your throat.

The challenge of breaking the traditional banking image is fully eminent in this series, I genuinely felt that the emotions were much more bigger than the brand's effort to avouch itself.

Sparks, by DBS, is an industry-first mini-series that follows a group of young bankers as they navigate work and personal lives. Inspired by true stories, they challenge the status quo to go above and beyond when solving unusual client challenges. Through this mini-series, DBS hopes to convey the true meaning of banking, and to challenge the perception that banking is only about transactions. This reflects the bank’s commitment to understand what matters in life, and integrate banking seamlessly with everyday living. The latest episode, Stand by Me (Episode 7) sees us go back in time with Chester, to when he meets his first clients – a young couple who own a small bus company. Guided by values he holds close to his heart, he stands with the family through each of their successes, and all of their setbacks. In this pilot, Claire Lee, a relationship manager, is introduced to cocky, Oxford-educated JasperWu, her new colleague. Sparks fly when they meet. A reluctant Claire is asked to show Jasper around, and then to visit a potential client together.
