Hello, Halo-Halo.

This is by far the best made, if not the closest to the Filipino Dessert Halo-Halo here in Singapore.

Eh? Strange but who would have thought I would find it in a cafe instead of a

Filipino food outlet or restaurant in Singapore?

P.S. This is what my taste buds dictate.

I tried almost 90% of the halo-halo being sold at Lucky Plaza but all of them were average ones, sometimes I feel like bringing my goggles or a microscopic lens just to look for the ingredients. I shut my eyes when I ordered this bowl at ISLAND CAFE, as it was about $10 bucks. Well, turned out it was worth every cent. ツ

I may be offbeat when it comes to this dessert, but I do not like my halo-halo with that scoop of ice cream on top. BUT! This was an exception. Some more they put UBE or YAM Ice Cream. I told myself - Oh noes, doomness ahead. I think only Le Hubs will be the one eating this entire bowl himself and he will not be whining.

We had a sparring of that dessert spoon. No prizes for guessing who won.

That hodgepodge of ingredients like sweet beans, nata de coco, jackfruit, sweetened potato/yam, macapuno/coconut, jellos and more- topped off with a scoop of ice cream, evaporated milk and shaved ice is truly significant of an Asian substance.
