Todai @ MBS Seafood Buffet Singapore
todai's agenda: crack open crab claws, dip them in copious butter & lime, slurp fresh oysters- all with my bib intact.
Todai, none of those happened.
TODAI @ MBS, labelled by many as a Korean, u.s. & International Seafood & Sushi Buffet - I only know one thing, it failed to deliver good food. This place is perpetually packed, too many guests that's why the more reason for you to refill the buffet spread amirite?
I was expecting to get down and dirty with the crabs but the dining experience was nothing special. I was still wondering why I failed to understand how they were tagged as The Mother of All Seafood Buffets in the U.S. Perhaps "todai" wasn't my lucky day then.
That meat looks so dry in this pic noh? Well, it was.

LOCATION
Set at the basement of the Marina Bay Sands, TODAI brings in customers for its Alaskan Crab. It reminded me of a more sosyal version of DAMPA in the Philippines.
LOOK & MOOD
Restaurant setting looks flat to me, even the layout of the tables. Spacious dining (about 300-400 seats?) you have it here but it was so basic I feel like I'm in a school cafeteria of some sort. I have spotted a few private rooms but they were all empty.

Most of the dishes were bland in my opinion, I can't really mention a single dish I've come to like, sorry! But if you want variety then you will love this place and find a plethora of stations : Korean, Italian Pizza/Pasta, Cold Cuts, Sashimi/Sushi, Brazilian Churassco, the Seafood Sections, Desserts and more.
I didn't bother to take more shots of the stations since most of the dish trays were unreplenished to think that it wasn't even near the closing hour yet!
Servers were attentive and I like that they don't bug customers with plate clearance and all. The chefs behind the counters were I think mostly Korean so you bet that there's always a communication issue plus most of them are aloof with the customers. I wanted to speak to them about some of the dishes but they seem to be doing something else or just merely pretending to be busy. I was actually calling that chef in the pic but for some reason he didn't seem to care.
Desserts
Oysters & coffee. my constant buffet closing ceremony. My friends always ask if my tummy doesn't go berserk with this haha! I wasn't even able to finish up this plate, like the crabs, even the oysters were disappointing.
For almost $68+ per pax, it really didn't satisfy.
IN A NUTSHELL
Not a place I would go for a U.S. Korean/International Seafood & Sushi Buffet. Price is a total whack considering their food tasted bland, nothing worth coming back for. Even the crab claws formidable pincers failed to impress & bite my palate.
