P L A T I N U M.
My hair. Not my album.
More than grateful and thankful for being chosen to be an Ambassador of Salon De Choix!
Salon De Choix is an awesome team; always delivering what I have wanted for my tresses. They are the one behind my pixie cut (special mention to Chester Soh, my personal hair stylist!). When I first went in here, all I wanted was a shorter hair and a good vibe. They were so exceptionally good at in meeting their clientele's needs and delivering "more" than what is expected from them.
I would not say that this is done alone by just one man, Chester to be exact. The founder/owner Sharon Wu may not be the one physically handling my mane but I can feel her presence. She has been in her field for long that she may have really mastered everything; from managing her own people and taking good care of her customers. She makes sure everyone is up on their toes; and I do mean they really do work with ethics and professionalism.
And so now that the year of the Horse is here, (Happy Chinese New Year everyone!) people are flocking to where else but salons to change their hairstyle, colour and the whatnot.
So why did I choose to be blonde?
As mentioned on my Instagram...
I decided to go blonde not because I was bombarded with images of Barbie when I was young.
I got my hair bleached as young as 21 you see; so I was no stranger to dyes, bleaches, highlights and all..
I even go to work with 5 different highlights on my hair haha!
Daaaang I miss being BLONDE!" (ah, Marilyn!)
and what matters is that you find that hue that is perfect for you..
Cause in the end , it's only you who deserves to feel good! Bags of attitude is what you oughtta carry on with, baby!
If you are keen on trialling life as a blonde, Salon De Choix is one trusty salon to do it for you.
If you are not yet ready to commit to a bold, brilliant and blonde hue..
hmm maybe try a softer color then?
But then again, I would not be jaded in saying this:
Have a heart to heart talk with your hairstylist.
It would make a whole lot of difference, believe you me.
Most of the time, we are 90% afraid to voice out what we actually like; for fear of being criticized and all...
but hey... it is your hair, your look that is at stake.Your voice, your call.
And Salon De Choix lives by it. They are always ready to listen and adjust to their customers' needs and wants.
So you really think am not sharing how I achieved this amazing new look?
Here it goes!
The Day I Go Blonde
My hair underwent bleaching. It would have taken a big toll on my mane as bleaching is done for the entire hair to well...lighten it all up! To my surprise, after all the years of having a break from bleaching, there was no telltale of a burning scalp sensation. Itchiness I can manage but burnin' scalp, uh-oh big no no! But my scalp was not a bit irritated at all. Chester and the other staff kept on askin' and checking up on me if my scalp was itchy or not; if there was any discomfort or anything. But I was firm in saying there was no itch nor burning scalp felt during my hair makeover.
And then.................. Chester made the perfect choice for my blonde transition.
Me having a platinum blonde was the BEST.THING.EVER. Thanks Salon De Choix!

*OOPS GUILTY ME HAHA.
How do you know if you can rock a blonde hair?
Do you burn even before you tan whenever you go to the beach and bask under the sun for hours?
Then you have a cool skin tone. High chances that you can rawk a blonde hair girl!
As for the cut?
Chester did this short graduated pixie with a little bit up the back to allow the sides and top to gracefully fall over my ears. It just goes to show how versatile short hair can be. MAD love the shape! When it comes to cutting my hair, he is gentle yet skillful with them scissors. Chester is a quick-thinker, tailors to what the customer wants and not what he thinks you should have.
Price. Competitive. For a salon to be located at the premier location of Orchard and Somerset? You will have your money's worth. A cut can be as low as $70; and the products used? Shu Uemura is one so enough said.
Location. Fairly easy to find as it is a short walking distance (merely 5-8 minutes) from Somerset Mrt Station. Cross the road from 313 Somerset, walk past the Skate Park and it's the first unit from your left (Winsland House Building). After your salon appointment, there are tons of malls to shop around. Have to flaunt your new look am I right to say that? Haha.
Environment. Quiet, cozy and with a great ambience. And notice the staff working there..all looked so presentable and neat. Their hairstyles are great, their outfits are on trend as well. Too bad I do not have time to snap their pics as the salon was waaayy too busy!
Bonuses: The staff are attentive and sensitive to your needs. They offer drinks (and delish biscuits too) even before you manage to sit down (which I really find sweet); as well as up to date magazines to keep you entertained while your hair is being done. They even offer cup noodles if you are hungry..beat that. They also have this massage chair! Shiok to the core as it will lull you to sleep while your hair is being washed.
Seriously , Salon De Choix is a godsend in this rostering ordeal of a world. Beat your hair woes, get thee to Salon De Choix ; look for my hair stylist Chester Soh and be amused yourself. Not just by Chester but by the entire team. *Please note that Chester Soh's rest day is every Monday of the week.
